Find the right sitter for your pet

No animal without food and water

When the sitter is in your home, they're asked about every animal in it, booked or not. If there's no food left, one button alerts our team.

Why join Vres Pet Sitter

What makes Vres Pet Sitter different, in a few words.

  • Care that doesn't depend on luck

For every animal we build a care guide from its profile, and the sitter has to read it before accepting the booking. While it lasts there is a daily checklist, a reminder to the sitter at 20:00 and an alert to you at 21:00 if food, water or medicine hasn't been ticked (for hosting, visits and house sitting). The evening before and the morning of the booking, reminders arrive.

  • No animal without food and water

On visits and house sitting, the sitter sees every animal in your home, not only those in the booking, and is asked about the minimum: food and water. If there's no food left for one of them, they press "No food left" and our team is alerted at once, as urgent. And when you ask for a booking, the form asks who looks after your other animals, so none is forgotten.

  • A good fit before you book

Every pet's profile says the essentials: age, sex, how they react to strangers and to touch, what they eat, what medicines they take. Before you send a request, we check the fit with the sitter: the sizes and ages they take, medicines, neutering and, at their home, whether their own animals get on with dogs or cats. Anything that doesn't fit is said up front, not when it's too late.

  • You know how it's going

While the booking lasts, the sitter posts arrival, updates and departure with photos, and a daily report. You see the day's checklist being ticked as it happens. Only the two of you see the photos. The evening before, a reminder goes to you both, and in the morning to the sitter.

  • People checked, on both sides

A person reviews every sitter profile before it appears, and every sitter shows an ID with a live selfie video and a proof of residence, both checked by people. Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram accounts are confirmed by our team. Reviews go both ways, so the sitter knows who they're dealing with too, and they're double-blind: hidden until both sides have written.

  • Safety when it matters

Every agreed booking has an emergency panel: 112, the pet's health notes and vet, and your contact for an emergency. An incident goes straight to our team as urgent. Before the first home stay or house sitting with a sitter we ask for a meet & greet; you skip it only if you say so.

  • For every animal, not only dogs and cats

Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, small mammals, reptiles, fish, horses and farm animals. For each species we ask its own essentials: for a bird whether it flies free and whether its cage is draped at night, for a reptile the heat and UV lamps and how often it eats, for fish their water. The care guide is built for its species.

  • Your privacy

The exact address is shown only once a booking is agreed, and contact details are hidden in messages. Your data is yours: download it or delete it whenever you like, as the GDPR provides.

  • Fair money

Sitters pay nothing and keep 100% of their price. Whoever books pays the sitter's price plus a 7% service fee on top, or 5% if they found their pet through FindAPet (findapet.gr, our sister marketplace that connects breeders, and people who found strays, with future owners). You see it before you book, never tucked away at the end. The fee pays for payment transaction costs and for running the service. The home-stay exchange has no fees for now. During the trial we charge nothing.

  • No paid placement

In search, nobody pays to appear higher. You see those who are approved, near you and free on your days, in the order you choose: nearest, cheapest or best rated. The rules are written publicly, in the FAQ and the terms of use.

  • Home-stay exchange, no subscription

Want someone to stay in your home and look after your animals, with no money involved? The home-stay exchange puts you in touch with members who'd like to stay somewhere for a few days. No subscription for now, and every member who applies has passed an ID check, shown proof of residence and confirmed Facebook and WhatsApp.

  • Made by people who love animals

Vres Pet Sitter wasn't made for profit. It was made because we know what it's like to leave your best friend in someone else's hands and count the hours until you're back. We built it so nobody has to feel that way: so every animal has food, water and care, every day you're away. The small fee is only there to keep the service running. Everything we do, we do for the animals and for you.
