These terms apply to using vrespetsitter.gr and the Vres Pet Sitter apps. By creating an account or continuing with email, Google or Apple, you accept them.
What Vres Pet Sitter is
We are a platform that connects pet owners with pet sitters. We don't provide the care ourselves: each booking is an agreement between the owner and the sitter. - Sitters are independent: they set their own prices, availability and way of working, and may work elsewhere too. They are not our employees. - The services are: dog walking, home visits, house sitting at the owner's home, and stays and day care at the sitter's home. A stay at the sitter's home is for one pet at a time, from one household, for up to 14 nights.
Your account
- You must be at least 18.
- Your details must be true. Keep your account secure and don't let others use it.
- You can download your data or delete your account in Settings. Deleting closes your account at once and erases your data 30 days later. While a report, incident or dispute involving you is open, or an authority has lawfully asked us to keep it, we keep what that matter needs until it's resolved (see the Privacy policy).
Bookings and payment
- The owner sends a request with dates, pets and where the care happens; the sitter accepts or declines. The price you see before accepting is the price that applies.
- For now, the sitter is paid directly between you (private settlement) and the platform doesn't handle that money. The platform's fees are described in the "Fees" section below.
- Sitters are responsible for their own tax obligations.
- Promo codes: if you have one, you can enter it on your request. A code lowers only our service fee (the one added on top of the sitter's price); it never changes the price agreed with the sitter or what the sitter receives. While we charge no service fee, a code changes nothing. A code has limits (dates, services, number of uses) and is used when the service fee is charged; if the booking is declined, expires or is cancelled before anything is charged, the use goes back to the code.
- Invitations to friends: if you invite someone with your personal link and their first booking is completed, you each get a personal promo code, on the programme's terms at that time (the percentage or amount, how long it works and a yearly limit on rewards). The code lowers only our service fee, has no cash value and can't be transferred. Inviting yourself or an account that is really the same person doesn't count, and a reward is withdrawn, with reasons, if the booking turns out not to have taken place, is refunded in full or the invitation was made to abuse the programme.
Fees
For now the platform charges nothing, neither the owner nor the sitter. Before any fee starts we'll tell you and ask you to accept the updated terms.
Cancellations
Each booking follows the cancellation policy you see before confirming it. Before you cancel, we show you what it means. Your rights as a consumer under the law are not affected.
Messages, reviews and content
- Contact details (phone numbers, emails, handles) in messages and reviews are hidden automatically, to keep both sides safe; you talk and arrange things through the platform.
- Reviews must be about a real booking and honest. They're published once you've both written, or when the 14-day window closes.
- What you upload (photos, text) stays yours; you let us show it on the platform as needed to run it.
Home-stay exchange
- The home-stay exchange is a free arrangement between two members: one stays in the other's home while they are away and looks after their animals. No money changes hands, neither as rent nor as payment; an ad can't ask for or offer any.
- It is not a tenancy, a holiday let or employment, and creates none. We are not a party to the arrangement: the two members agree it, keep it, and answer for it. We provide the place to meet and the tools (applications, chat, the stay agreement, reviews).
- Everyone can see the ads. To apply you need a complete account, the ID check and at least two linked accounts, Facebook and WhatsApp among them. Membership is free for now; if that changes, we will announce it first.
- Your first ad is read by our team before it shows; later ones show at once unless something sends them for review (for example talk of money or contact details). If an ad is sent back or taken down, we always tell you why.
- The exact address, keys, Wi-Fi and emergency details are seen only by the confirmed member, in the stay agreement, and are deleted 30 days after the stay.
- For your safety: get to know each other first (a video call or a meeting), read the references and reviews, and never pay to be chosen. If anything worries you, you can report it.
What isn't allowed
- Fake profiles, misleading information or reviews.
- Harassment, threats, violence, discrimination or illegal content.
- Mistreating animals, or neglecting a pet in your care.
- Using the platform for anything other than pet care.
Order in search
Search results show sitters with an approved profile who offer the service, within the distance that applies to it and, if you gave dates, available then. The order is set by distance, price and rating, depending on the sort you choose; on a tie, whoever has been on the platform longest comes first. In the "Nearest" order, within the same distance band (every 5 kilometres), sitters with the "Top Sitter" distinction come first, then those with "Trusted Sitter": distinctions are given on public, measurable criteria (reviews, reliability, replies, completed bookings) and explained in the FAQ. Nobody can pay to appear higher or to get a distinction. The details are in the FAQ.
Reports and moderation
You can report a profile, a message, a review, or a person you've dealt with. Our team reviews every report. When we decide something that affects you (such as removing content, a warning, a restriction or a suspension), we send you the decision and our reasons. You can reply through the contact form and we'll look at your case again.
Safety and cooperation with the authorities
We want Vres Pet Sitter to be a safe space for owners and sitters alike. - We take every report seriously and keep the evidence (messages, reports, what happened during a booking) for as long as it's needed to deal with it. - When we learn of something that may be a criminal offence threatening someone's life or safety, we inform the police, as the law requires. - We cooperate with the police, prosecutors and courts when they lawfully ask us, sharing only what the request needs. - If something happens to you, report it through the platform. In an emergency, call 112 first.
ID check
The "ID checked" badge only means a moderator saw that the sitter's ID document and video match. It is not a criminal record check, and it says nothing certain about behaviour or the quality of care.
Beyond the badge, the platform asks for identity documents (a photo of your ID and a selfie video) and a proof of residence from sitters and from home-stay exchange members who apply, for the services and on the terms the platform's administrators set from time to time: the "ID check" page in your account shows what applies to you. Where they are asked for, without approved documents a sitter isn't shown to owners and can't receive new requests, and a member can't apply; people who were already approved have a deadline to send them, and bookings they already have carry on. You declare that the documents are genuine and yours; false or someone else's documents lead to restriction or a ban. How we keep them is explained in the Privacy policy.
The "Verified profiles" badge only means our team saw that an account on another platform (for example Instagram) belongs to this person and that the name matches. The same limits apply: it is no guarantee. Whoever links an account confirms it is theirs; if it isn't, the badge is removed and their account may be restricted.
Liability
We do our best to keep the platform working correctly and safely, but we are not a party to the agreement between owner and sitter and are not responsible for how it is carried out. This doesn't limit any liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited.
Changes
We may change these terms. Every version stays available in this page's history. For significant changes we'll ask you to accept them before you go on; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.
Law and contact
Greek law applies. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection and the right to go to court that the law of the country you live in gives you. For anything, write to us through the contact form.
